Our Mission
Humans are natural storytellers, and we create our reality and shape our past through the stories we tell one another. Music is a powerful universal connector, evoking emotions and memories that transport us to other times and places.
At Story-Oke, we create a safe space for everyone to share their stories and sing the songs that shaped them. Don't worry—Story-Oke isn’t about having the best voice, it’s about letting your heart shine through.
The rules are simple (see FAQ section for further information):

Submit a song that is especially important to you.

Prepare a 3-5 minute story about why the song you chose is important to you.

Sing the hell out of that song, with or without the crowd!

You do not need previous public speaking, singing, or performing experience. And there is need to compare yourself to any of the other performers. We believe that everyone’s stories deserve to be heard and we want to hear yours!
We want to hear every kind of true story: funny ones, sad ones, vulnerable ones, celebratory ones, ones that help us get to know you. If a song holds special meaning to you, there has to be a story behind it. And that's exactly what we want to hear!
Feel free to submit several ideas. Not all might be chosen, but we will contact you letting you know which story has been chosen and for which date.
There is not a deadline per se. Story-Oke is performed once a month and slots are usually filled a month prior. After you submit, we will reach out to you by email approximately one month prior to each show date in order to confirm that you’re available for that show’s date.
